<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To regenerate NOx storage reduction catalyst by surely forming hydrogen with a relatively simple structure. <P>SOLUTION: The NOx storage catalyst 21 is provided in an exhaust pipe 16 of an diesel engine 11. A bypass pipe 23 is provided in an exhaust pipe in an upstream side of the NOx storage reduction catalyst. A reformer 26 forming hydrogen from exhaust gas flowing in the bypass pipe and gas oil 32 supplied from a gas oil supply means 30 is provided in bypass pipe. The reformer includes a cylindrical converter 27 having section area larger than section area of the bypass pipe and a reforming catalyst 28 stored in the converter. An injection nozzle 29 injecting gas oil supplied from the gas oil supply means toward the reforming catalyst is provided on the converter or the bypass pipe in the upstream side of the reforming catalyst. A flow control valve 41 making exhaust gas flow into the bypass pipe from the exhaust pipe is provided at an inlet of the bypass pipe. Ratio of section area of the bypass pipe and section area of the converter is 0.125 or more and less than 1.0. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
