PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve fuel consumption while ensuring convenience of cruise control. SOLUTION: In this device, a switching means 23 performs switching between a first traveling control means (cruise control part 22) which controls traveling of a vehicle so that the vehicle speed matches a target vehicle speed and a second traveling control means (target fuel consumption controller 21) which controls traveling of the vehicle based on a fuel consumption deviation between an actual fuel consumption and a target fuel consumption. Therefore, the traveling by the cruise control of maintaining the target vehicle speed and the target fuel consumption traveling of saving the fuel consumption while permitting increase in fluctuation range of the vehicle speed can be switched according to a driver's intention, and the fuel consumption can be thus improved while ensuring the convenience of the cruise control. Since the second traveling control means controls the traveling of the vehicle based on an instructed vehicle speed which can minimize the fuel consumption deviation between the actual fuel consumption and the target fuel consumption within a vehicle speed fluctuation allowable range of the constant speed traveling control, the vehicle can travel at a vehicle speed that can improve the fuel consumption to a maximum extent in exchange for a predetermined vehicle speed fluctuation.
