PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption of a refresh operation to significantly reduce power consumption in a power-down state. SOLUTION: A semiconductor storage device which regularly requires the refresh operation for storage of memory cells, comprises a first refresh mode in which all the memory cells are refreshed, a second refresh mode in which at least a portion of the memory cells are refreshed, and a refresh address register 61b for storing address information of a memory cell to be refreshed in the second refresh mode. The refresh address register is arranged to hold address information 611 of a cell from which the refresh operation is started and information about the number of occurrences 613 of a refresh command.
