METHOD FOR ERASING PROCESSING OF DISK RECORDING SURFACE, AND DISK DRIVE APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for erasing a desired area on a recording surface by positioning a head using servo data written on the recording surface. SOLUTION: An HDD 1 moves a head element part 12 by a half-servo track pitch base on a servo address to erase the recording surface. Before starting actual erasing of the recording surface, the HDD 1 generates a management table constituted based on the servo address from the management table constituted based on the data track. In the erasing processing, the HDD 1 carries out parameter setting and skip of a management area corresponding to a zone by referring to the management table based on the servo address.
