PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a saddle lifting device of a bicycle capable of restraining rising speed of a saddle and speedily lowering the saddle, solid and excellent in durability. SOLUTION: This saddle lifting device of the bicycle is devised to change allowance/avoidance of lifting of the saddle over to each other in accordance with restriction and release of opening and closing of a link 7 by operation on the handlebar side by providing a spring 1 to energize the saddle in the rising direction to lift up and down the saddle of the bicycle in riding the bicycle, furnishing a shock absorber 2 to restrain sudden lifting of the saddle and connecting a cylinder 3 of the shock absorber 2 and a piston to each other by the link 7 to open and close, and for the shock absorber 2, the one to which rotating resistance larger when the saddle rises than when it lowers is given as a screw rod 18 held in the piston 4 and a screw nut 19 held in the piston 4 are screwed on each other and one of them rotates when the saddle rises and the other rotates when it lowers is used.
