A light has a housing (2) with light source (4) and a transparent cover pointing to a front viewing face (A). The housing (2) is designed as a socket-type appliance insert (12) with a frame-type support element (14) so the appliance insert (12) can be inserted into an electrical installation box and, thus the support element (14) serves for mounting on a surrounding installation surface, in which the support element (14) lies with a front housing wall (18) facing the viewing face (A) mainly flush with one plane.
