<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber and a broadband light source capable of generating further broadband SC light. <P>SOLUTION: A broadband light source 1 includes a seed light source 11 and an optical fiber 12. The seed light source 11 outputs light having a central wavelength in a wavelength range of 1,500 to 1,650nm. The optical fiber 12 inputs light output from the seed light source 11 and outputs supercontinuum light. The optical fiber 12 outputs supercontinuum light which has a zero distribution wavelength in a wavelength range from 1,300 to 1,500nm and an effective cross sectional area of≤12μm<SP>2</SP>at the central wavelength and is spread with a wavelength band width of≥1,000nm. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
