PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow for learning/recognition of motion patterns of a person, vehicle and the like with the individual differences absorbed. SOLUTION: A barycentric position of a moving object is calculated as a movement locus from a time series image inputted from an image input part 100, and stored in a locus accumulation part 120. A mesh generation part 130 divides a two-dimensional plane for detecting the movement locus into a plurality of meshes, and respectively numbers the meshes, A one-dimensional symbol value calculation part 140 chronologically acquires numbers assigned to the meshes with the calculated movement locus present therein, and convert the movement locus into a one-dimensional symbol value. Thus, a motion pattern learning part 150 is allowed to learn a motion pattern, by applying HMM (Hidden Markov Model), a motion pattern recognition part 160 is allowed to recognize the motion pattern by applying the HMM, and the movement locus is learned/recognized accurately, as well as stably.
