PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmitter capable of improving a compensation characteristic for nonlinear distortion to be generated in an amplifier, by regulating a change in the internal temperature of the amplifier. SOLUTION: A signal generation unit 11 which generates a distortion measuring signal for measuring nonlinear distortion generated in the amplifier 15 before the generation of a transmission signal, generates an advance signal for increasing the temperature of the amplifier 15 before the generation of the distortion measuring signal. By increasing the temperature of the amplifier 15 up to a predetermined level by the advance signal beforehand before sending the distortion measuring signal, an error of the nonlinear distortion resulting from a change in the temperature of the amplifier 15 between at the time of sending of the distortion measuring signal and at the time of sending of the transmission signal, can be removed to improve the distortion compensation characteristic, even when a signal transmission interval becomes longer.
