PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating head which makes an edge member easily detachable and securely retainable using a wedge-like retaining member for fixing and positioning an edge member on a fixing roll and keeps manufacturing cost relatively low. SOLUTION: The coating head is provided in which a recessed strip groove 3 parallel to an axis line of a fixing roll 1 is formed on a periphery of the roll 1, an edge member 4 forming a thickness of a coating solution in the recessed strip groove 3 and a wedge-like retaining member 5 for fixing and positioning the edge member 4 on the fixing roll 1 in a traveling direction of a base material and on a forward side of the edge member 4 are mounted by insertion, wherein the fixing roll includes a cut surface portion 8 on a traveling direction side of the base material from the recessed strip groove 3 with the edge member 4 made of a hard material, and with the wedge-like retaining member 5 insertable by pressure from an opening side of the recessed strip groove 3 to fix it on the fixing roll 1.
