PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an earthquake-resistant brace having a high earthquake-resistant strength and permitting an easy execution of a tensing and repairing work after the occurrence of an earthquake. SOLUTION: This earthquake-resistant brace has first and second screw plates fixed to a pair of brace pieces, and a rod member tensed and supported between both the battledores. The rod member has a threaded portion at one end and a rod head with its outer shape greater than its rod diameter at the other end; the battledore has a special shape similar to the bottom of a boat; the threaded portion of the rod member is screwed to the thread of the first battledore; and the rod is inserted to a thrust boss of the second battledore thereby placing the rod head in the ship bottom and then tensing and reinforcing the portion located between a pair of the brace pieces by turning the rod head between the earthquake-resistant brace pieces.
