The device (11) has an input shaft connected with a steering wheel (6) of a steering system (5) and with coupling pieces in a torque-proof manner, where the pieces have respective axial toothings. A central coupling counter piece arranged between the coupling pieces includes a counter toothing at an axial side turned towards one of the axial toothings, and another counter toothing at another axial side turned towards the other axial toothing. The axial toothings stand in engagement with the respective counter toothings in a closed condition of the device. An independent claim is also included for a steering system for a vehicle with a steering wheel and a coupling device.
