PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fall detecting device having a simple mechanical switch structure comprising a circuit operation only for using switching on and off of a contact, sensitivity in all falling directions without being affected by torque, and enhanced reliability for a detected result. SOLUTION: This fall detecting device includes a conductive shaft body 20, a conductive weight part 21 formed in a ring shape, a conductive elastic body 22 which is disposed so as to surround the circumference of the shaft body with its one end fixed to the shaft body and the other end fixed to the weight part, and which movably supports the weight part while energizing it toward the direction opposite to the gravity direction G by fixed elastic force, a sensor 15 having a conductive contact part 23 brought into contact with at least the weight part when the weight is receiving the gravity, a circuit part to impress a fixed voltage by electrically connecting between the weight part and the contact part, and a detecting means to monitor fluctuation of the voltage between the weight part and the contact part and detect that an object is in a falling condition when a voltage drop at a prescribed level continuously lasts for a fixed time or longer.
