PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zoom lens satisfying a higher variable power ratio and miniaturization simultaneously, and an electronic imaging apparatus equipped with the same. SOLUTION: The zoom lens has a first positive lens group G11, a second negative lens group G12, a third positive lens group G13, a fourth negative lens group G14 and a fifth positive lens group G15 in order from an object side, and varies power from a wide angle end to a telephoto end by changing each air space held by respective spaces between the first lens group, the second lens group, the third lens group, the fourth lens group and the fifth lens group. The space between the first lens group and the second lens group is larger and the space between the second lens group and the third lens group is smaller at the telephoto end than at the wide angle end. The first lens group comprises one lens component L11, and the second lens group includes a positive lens L14 and negative lenses L12 and L13.
