PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical writing type display medium which uses an optical switching element to improve display characteristics, driving power, and further stability of repetition in AC drive. SOLUTION: The optical writing type display medium includes at least a display layer and an optical switching layer between a pair of substrates, wherein the optical switching layer is constructed by laminating a charge generation layer and a bipolar charge transport layer to each other.
