PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve device having opening/closing operation at a higher speed than at conventional one. SOLUTION: The valve device comprises a valve element 2 provided in a fluid passage 1, a valve stem 3 for turnably supporting the valve element 2, a pair of electromagnets 4, 5 provided in opposite positions and each having a core, an armature 6 to be attracted by the electromagnets 4, 5, springs 7, 8 for energizing the armature 6 to be located between the electromagnets 4, 5 when no current is carried to the electromagnets 4, 5, a driving shaft 9 fixed to the armature 6 and movable together with the armature 6, and a power transmission mechanism 10 for transmitting the movement of the driving shaft 9 converted into the movement of the valve stem 3 in the rotating direction. With the armature 6 attracted by the electromagnets 4, 5, the driving shaft 9 is moved in the axial direction to turn the valve element 2. Thus, the fluid passage 1 is opened/closed.
