PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for removing a thermally sprayed coating where an aluminum thermally sprayed coating can be removed without giving damage to a shield made of aluminum, and to provide a method for removing an aluminum thermally sprayed coating using the same. SOLUTION: An aluminum coating thermally sprayed on aluminum is removed using a composition for removing a thermally sprayed coating comprising alkali metal hydroxide, alkaline-earth metal salt and water.
