An optical repeater is provided on a transmission line between subscriber side optical line terminals having an ONU function and a center side optical line terminal and comprises a first electrical/optical conversion means, a second electrical/optical conversion means, and a transmission means. The first electrical/optical conversion means is connected to a first transmission line on the center side. The second electrical/optical conversion means is connected to a second transmission line on the subscriber side. The transmission means is provided between the first electrical/optical conversion means and the second electrical/optical conversion means and transmits an optical repeater supervisory signal for the repeater itself between the optical transmission lines.
