<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a collision detector capable of distinguishing the collision of a human from that of the other objects reliably and preventing erroneous detection. <P>SOLUTION: The collision detector 1 detects the intensity of heat rays radiated from a target to be detected that approaches or comes into contact with a vehicle 80 by a human detection sensor 30, outputs a first directional signal for indicating the direction of the presence of a target to be detected, based on the detected intensity, detects ultrasonic waves reflected by the target to be detected, and outputs a second directional signal for indicating the direction of the presence of the target to be detected, based on the detection result. A physical value sensor 27 detects the application of shock to a vehicle, and outputs a shock signal for indicating the application of shock to the vehicle based on the detection result.
