PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for screening a mitochondria function-activating substance capable of improving diseases or morbidities associated with mitochondria malfunction and becoming their treating agent, in a large amount and rapidly. SOLUTION: This method for screening the mitochondria function-activating substance is characterized by bringing a substance to be tested in contact with sperm collected from a mouse having a deleted type mitochondria DNA and selecting the tested substance recovering the kinetic ability of the sperm.
