Disclosed is a radiation-crosslinkable polyester fiber which can be provided with heat resistance sufficient for maintaining the shape at high temperatures, particularly at a temperature not less than the melting point of the polyester by being irradiated with ionizing radiation. Specifically disclosed is a radiation-crosslinkable polyester fiber which is obtained by reacting a compound having a specific structure with a molecular chain end of a highly polymerized polyester, while adjusting the amount of molecular chain ends and the amount of functional groups derived from the compound within appropriate ranges, and then melt spinning the resulting polyester.
