<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display apparatus and a driving method thereof that can reduce an afterimage. <P>SOLUTION: The plasma display apparatus comprises a plasma display panel, a calculation part, a compensation part, a video data processing part, and a first electrode driving part. The plasma display panel includes a discharge cell corresponding to an area where a first electrode and a second electrode cross. The calculation part outputs a first signal corresponding to a time when the discharge cell emits light. The compensation part outputs a second signal representing the variation ratio of gray level corresponding to the discharge cell when the time corresponding to the first signal is greater than a reference time. The video data processing part outputs a display video signal changed from a video signal according to the second signal.
