<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine whether or not a corresponding page will be displayed, while taking the skill level of a user for an electronic device, i.e., the operating condition of the user, into consideration. <P>SOLUTION: A microcomputer 21 controls the OSD circuit 24a of a TV signal processing part 24 and displays a menu screen for the functions and the operating method or the like of the electronic device in a display part 26. In this case, if a certain item on the menu screen displayed in the display part 26 is not selected for a certain period of time (e.g., 5 to 10 seconds) or more, the microcomputer 21 displays the corresponding portion of operating instructions for an item on which a cursor on the menu screen is located after the certain period of time has elapsed.
