PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an alkyd type specific polycondensate being a new polymer leading improved characteristics in respect of gloss and long-period perpetuity of the resultant film, especially in nail varnish and having a specific carboxylic acid containing an aromatic acid in high content. SOLUTION: The cosmetic or pharmaceutical composition comprises 15-30 wt.% polycondensate that may be obtained by reacting at least one polyol containing 3-6 hydroxy groups in an amount of 15-30 wt.% based on total weight of the polycondensate with at least one saturated or unsaturated straight-chain, branched and/or cyclic 6-32C non-aromatic monocarboxylic acid in an amount of 5-40 wt.% based on total weight of the polycondensate; at least one 7-11C aromatic monocarboxylic arbitrarily substituted with one to three 1-32C saturated or unsaturated straight-chain, branched and/or cyclic alkyl groups in an amount of 10-55 wt.% based on total weight of the polycondensate and at least one saturated or unsaturated or aromatic, straight-chain, branched and/or cyclic polycarboxylic acid, comprising at least two carboxylic groups COOH, especially 2-4 COOH groups; and/or a cyclic anhydride of such as polycarboxylic acid in an amount of 10-25 wt.% based on total weight of the polycondensate in a cosmetically or pharmaceutically acceptable medium.
