PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent surely a trouble in delivering from occurring by a simple maintenance without using a chelating agent. SOLUTION: In an inkjet recorder, a trouble occurs easily in delivering because deposits on the nozzle surface of a recording head enter a nozzle when the nozzle surface is wiped. When the amount of ink purge increases to the number of times of wiping n, no trouble occurs. The amount of ink purge per wipe not causing any trouble in delivering is set as a required amount of purge, and the amount of ink purge is compensated by dummy jet or suction at a predetermined timing such that the amount of ink purge becomes the required amount of purge. Consequently, occurrence of the trouble in delivering is prevented easily without using the chelating agent and high quality image formation is ensured over a long term.
