913,421. Hose end-coupling. JAGER, A., and JAGER, Jun. A., [trading as JAGER & SOHN HOCHDRUCKHAHN KOMM. -GES.]. March 18, 1959 [March 18, 1958], No. 9439/59. Class 99(1). In a coupling comprising an internally tapering socket 5, a connecting nipple 16 and a supporting sleeve 15 and secured, with the intermediary of a hardening sealing compound 26, to a hose consisting of inner and outer layers 4, 3 of rubber or synthetic plastic with an intermediate layer of embedded reinforcing steel wires 2, a sealing ring 12 is provided between the sealing compound 26 and the external surface of a part 4<SP>1</SP> of the layer 4 projecting from the sealing compound, and between the socket 5 and the nipple 16. As shown, the wires 6 contained in the socket 5 are bare and the compound 26 is introduced between the hose layer 4 and the socket. A right-angled, perforated supporting ring 7 for centering the socket 5 until the compound 26 has hardened is applied on the end 4<SP>1</SP> of the hose layer 4 and is held against the socket 5 by the nipple 16 screwed thereon. The sealing ring 12 is of hollow profile in radial section and is introduced in an annular recess 20 formed in the ring 7, lips 13, 14 of the sealing ring bearing respectively against the nipple 16 and the end 4<SP>1</SP> of the hose layer 4. Fluid under pressure enters the cavity of the sealing ring 12 through cut-outs 19 formed in the forward edge of the sleeve 15 and of the inner rubber layer 4. A double nipple may be used to connect two hoses together. . |
