METHOD FOR PRODUCING FINE METHACRYLIC RESIN PARTICLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of producing fine methacrylic resin particles by starting polymerization by a polymerization initiator while suspending a monomer containing methyl methacrylate as a main component into an aqueous medium by efficiently stirring the monomer together with the aqueous medium by using a polymerization container equipped with a stirring blade and polymerizing the monomer without causing aggregation. SOLUTION: The method for producing fine methacrylic resin comprises polymerizing the monomer in the presence of a straight-chain saturated hydrocarbon represented by the formula (I): CmH2m+2and reducing stirring power (P) halfway during polymerization to≤1/3 based on initial stirring power (P0) set when starting polymerization. In the production method,≥75 mass% polymerization initiator is preferably a compound represented by formula (II) and the straight-chain saturated hydrocarbon is preferably used in an amount of 0.1-10 pts.mass and the polymerization initiator is preferably used in an amount of 0.01-5 pts.mass based on 100 pts.mass monomer and stirring power is preferably set within the above range while rate of polymerization of the monomer is≤25%.
