An audiovisual environment control device, an audiovisual environment control system and an audiovisual environment control method are provided with features in which illumination control for the most suitable audiovisual environment in accordance with kinds (genres) of audiovisual contents can be put into practice. An audiovisual environment control device is provided to control illumination light from an illumination device (11), which is set around a video display device (7), in accordance with a characterized amount of video data to be displayed on the video display device (7). The audiovisual environment control device is comprised of a genre judging unit (4) to judge a genre of a video displayed on the video display device (7) and controls the illumination light from the illumination device (11) based on genre information judged by the judging unit.
