The method involves connecting a secondary system parallel to a primary system and coupling a super capacitor with a bi-directional direct current/direct current (DC/DC) converter. A supercondenser is supercharged with a momentary voltage. Areas for the momentary voltage are separated from one another through area boundaries. Charging and discharging activities of a super capacitor are assigned to the areas, where the area boundaries are varied based on a vehicle and/or environment parameter. An independent claim is also included for an electrical system of a motor vehicle.
