A sleeve for an automatic transmission is provided to stably fix a steel sleeve to a rear cover by using a sleeve rotation preventing member, thereby solving wear of the rear cover and a retainer. A steel sleeve(7) is inserted between a rear cover(1) and a retainer(3) of an automatic transmission. A sleeve rotation preventing member is formed between an inner periphery of the sleeve and the rear cover to fix the sleeve to the rear cover. The sleeve rotation preventing member has plural key grooves(11) formed on the inner periphery of the sleeve, and plural key grooves(13) formed on the rear cover corresponding to the key grooves of the sleeve, in which a key(15) is inserted into each key groove.
