<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for recording optical information for accurately forming a recording mark with a desired length. <P>SOLUTION: An optical driving waveform 4041 is constituted so that drive start time is delayed from a reference signal 4100 only by B18 (2, 2) and drive end time is ended early by E18 (2, 4). The B18 (2, 2) is determined as a function of proper length T4101 of a preceding unrecorded area and proper length T4102 of the recording mark so that a thermal state on a mark starting end part is fixed independently of a recording pattern. The B18 (2, 4) is determined as a function of proper length T4102 of the recording mark and proper length T4103 of a succeeding unrecorded part so that a thermal state on a mark termination part is fixed independently of the recording pattern.
