<p>Disclosed is a biological indicator comprising a carrier and an indicator material which adheres to the carrier surface. The indicator material has a contact portion which is in contact with the carrier surface and a non-contact portion which is not in contact with the carrier surface. This biological indicator has an adhered area which includes the portions where the indicator material adheres, and a non-adhered area which includes the portions where the indicator material does not adhere.</p>
