DIAPHRAGM UNIT AND SPEAKER USING THE SAME

A diaphragm unit adapted for use in a speaker having a frame. The diaphragm unit has a diaphragm and an edge connected to the outer periphery of the diaphragm. The diaphragm has a longitudinal direction and has a longitudinal center axis. The edge has an outer periphery connected to the frame and an inner periphery connected to the outer periphery of the diaphragm, and has a substantially semi-circular cross-section. Grooves extending from the inner periphery to the outer periphery of the edge are formed in a projection surface of the edge. The grooves have a V- or U-shaped cross-section and are arranged symmetric with respect to a first center axis of the diaphragm. The diaphragm unit realizes the elongate speaker capable of reproducing bass with low distortion.
