PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease the size and cost of a PDP device by decreasing the number of Y bits. SOLUTION: The PDP device equipped with a PDP, having (X, Y, A) and respective drivers has a structure, such that two nearby Ys among a plurality of Ys are connected in common, nearby a connection part between the PDP and driver by a wiring (y), to be included in one set unit. Reset operation control and address operation control in two stages by using reset operation including address disabling operation are used for a control unit that includes a plurality of display lines (L) of a set unit. With respect to a plurality of Ls of the set unit, a first L (e.g. Lo), corresponding to one Y of the set unit and a second L (e.g. Le) corresponding to the other Y, are placed in reset operation and address operation individually in two successive periods, and then the first and second Ls, corresponding to the both, are made to sustain-operate simultaneously.
