PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device capable of suppressing imbalance of white balance of a display screen with passage of time. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal device is constituted of an illumination device and a liquid crystal display panel. The illumination device has a plurality of light sources which respectively emit different color beams and wherein light emission intensity of each color beam is lowered with passage of time. The liquid crystal display panel has a transmission region transmitting the beams emitted from the illumination device in a subpixel. The quicker the light emission intensity lowering speed of the beam is, the lower a current value of the light source emitting the color beam is set to be and the slower the light emission intensity lowering speed of the beam is, the higher the current value is set to be. The quicker the light emission intensity lowering speed of the beam is, the larger the area of the transmission region of the subpixel corresponding to the color is set to be and the slower the light emission intensity lowering speed of the beam is, the smaller the area of the transmission region of the subpixel is set to be.
