PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine whether to display line drawings according to the size and the number of pixels of a display screen. SOLUTION: When instructed to display nine images in a screen, a screen is divided into nine areas, and reduced images are displayed in each area. When line-drawing information related to the displayed images exists, a determination is made as to whether to display those line drawings superimposed on the images based on a size of the divided areas and a number of pixels therein. When it is anticipated that it is not possible to discriminate the line drawings even when they are displayed, a display of the line drawings will not be carried out, and marks (M) indicating that the line-drawing information exists will be displayed, instead.
