The method involves inputting a target category into an information system (1) of a vehicle, and automatically assigning individual additional information to respective target objects. The individual additional information is compared with available decision criteria. One of the target objects of the target category is automatically selected based on the comparison, and the selected target object is displayed, where the additional information is updated sequentially and automatically in predetermined intervals. An independent claim is also included for an information system for providing information in a vehicle.
