This invention provides a method for transferring a pattern onto an object, wherein a transfer sheet can be brought into intimate contact with a large area in the surface of a three-dimensional object to cleanly transfer a pattern. In this transfer method, a transfer sheet (2) is brought into intimate contact with the surface of an object (1), and an ink layer (24) in the transfer sheet (2) is transferred onto the object (1). In this transfer method, the transfer sheet (2) comprises a base material sheet (21) formed of a urethane elastomer sheet having an elongation at break of not less than 30% and an elastic recovery of not more than 10% and a urethane ink layer (24) provided on the surface of the base material sheet (21) through a vinyl release layer (22). In this transfer method, in such a state that the transfer sheet (2) is brought into intimate contact with the surface of the object (1), the transfer sheet (2) is heated to transfer the ink layer (24) onto the surface of the object (1). Separation is carried out at an interface of the urethane elastomer sheet of the base material sheet (21) and the release layer (22) to stack the ink layer (24) and the release layer (22) onto the surface of the object (1), and the urethane elastomer sheet of the base material sheet (21) is removed.
