A platform-based wireless multi-mode communication terminal and a recording medium are provided to offer a platform-based wireless LAN service, which is able to be freely used without special registration procedures, through a platform operation system for wireless terminals located in one or more hot spot providing systems. A platform-based wireless multi-mode communication terminal(1300) having a wide area communication unit and a short range communication unit comprises a wide area communication part(1350), a communication switching part(1355), and a short range communication part(1360). The wide area communication part(1350) accesses a wide area communication network through the wide area communication unit and communicates with one or more servers connected to the wide area communication network. The communication switching part(1355), if the wireless terminal(1300) enters the communication range of a wireless AP(Access Point) and receives a communication platform to access a short range wireless communication network through the wireless AP, changes over from the wide area communication unit to the short range communication unit for communication with the servers. The short range communication part(1360) processes communication with one or more servers through the short range communication unit. If the wireless terminal(1300) gets out of the communication range of the wireless AP, the communication switching part(1355) changes over from the short range communication unit to the wide area communication unit for communication with the servers.
