<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing device capable of outputting a trial printing image by which the density of a ground tint image can be adjusted by performing trial printing once, and a method therefor. <P>SOLUTION: The image processing device forms a patch pattern having a plurality of gradation levels by halftone processing for a latent image pattern (S1301), and outputs the patch pattern to a printer so as to acquire the density information of the patch image formed by the printer (S1302). The device calculates gradation density characteristic showing relation between the gradation level and the density of the latent image pattern based on the density information (S1303), and sets the gradation level at which the density of the latent image pattern is made the target one from the gradation density characteristic (S1304). Then, it generates ground tint sample data including the ground tint image obtained by combining the latent image pattern at the set gradation level and a background pattern. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
