<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the design flexibility of the appearance of an image forming apparatus in which a main body frame is covered by an opening/closing cover and a fixing cover. <P>SOLUTION: Spacer members 50A to 50D are formed on the back of the right cover 50, and spacer members 52A, B, and D are formed on the back of the left cover 52. A space in which the side wall 14D of a front cover 14 can be inserted is formed between the right side face of the main body frame 12 and the right cover 50. Similarly, a space in which the side wall 14C of the front cover 14 can be inserted is formed between the left side face of the main body frame 12 and the left cover 52. The spacer members 50A to D and the right cover 50 are formed with ribs 50E and 50F for positioning the side wall 14D.
