摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device capable of forming the optimum retardation in a sub pixel having a specified color among sub pixels having a plurality of colors in the transflective liquid crystal device. <P>SOLUTION: The transflective liquid crystal device has a liquid crystal layer interposed between a color filter substrate provided with a unit pixel constituted of a plurality of sub pixels and having colored layers of G, R and B and an element substrate having an interlayer insulating film forming a multi gap structure. In the liquid crystal device, the thickness of the colored layer of R is set to be thicker than thicknesses of the colored layers G and B. Thereby, luminance of R can be heightened. The thickness of the interlayer insulating film positioned in the colored layer of R is set to be thinner than the thickness of the interlayer insulating film positioned in the colored layers of G and B. Thereby, the thicknesses of sections of the liquid crystal layer corresponding to respective sub pixels of R, G and B can be made uniform, transmittance in each color of G, R and B can be fixedly held and the optimum retardation can be formed in the sub pixel SP of R. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
