摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical device that ensures efficient cooling of a light modulation element, without causing image quality degradation, and to provide a space part manufacturing method and a projector. <P>SOLUTION: The optical apparatus 800 comprises a light modulation element (light valve 71); and a light valve cooling frame 110, disposed outside of the image formation area 71a of the light valve 71 and having a hollow part 111 filled with a liquid coolant 90. The light valve 71 includes an element substrate (TFT array substrate 4); an opposite substrate 5; and a light intercepting part 21, formed so as to be head conductive within the cross-section of the inner face in an area of the opposite substrate 5, by which of the light rays entering the element substrate from the external face of the opposite substrate 5, a light ray traveling toward an area between the adjacent pixel electrodes 20 is intercepted, but a light ray traveling toward the effective display area of the pixel electrode 20 is not intercepted. The light valve cooling frame 110 holds the light valve 71, by firmly fixing the light intercepting part 21 of the light valve 71 so that heat can be conducted with respect to the liquid coolant 90 inside the hollow 111. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
