PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera module which has a zooming function, capable of performing continuous zooming and an automatic focusing (AF) function, is made small in size and light in weight, and attains desired zooming and accurate focusing, and to provide a portable terminal equipped with the camera module. SOLUTION: The camera module includes: a first cam body 75 which has a helical body 758, formed on its outer peripheral surface and is rotated by receiving the driving force of a first motor for driving an optical AF lens group 36 (362); and a second cam body 72, which has a helical body 728 on its outer peripheral surface and is rotated, by receiving the driving force of a second motor for driving optical zoom lens groups 31 (312) and 33 (322). Projection parts 730 and 760 are formed on the respective cam bodies. The camera module also includes photointerrupters 60 and 61, each of which has a light-emitting element and a light-receiving element that are positioned opposite to each projection part. When each cam body is rotated, each projection part of the cam body passes through a gap between the light-emitting element and the light-receiving element for the photointerrupter.
