PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve load efficiency in transportation of chairs and storage efficiency in a warehouse or the like. SOLUTION: A projection 23a facing orthogonally to at a rotation axis of a pivot part is provided at the bottom end of a backrest support rod 9. A stopper member 25 provided on a base 6 is made to abut on the projection 23a, thereby blocking a forward turning of the rod 9. A backrest 11 is retracted from a turning trajectory of the projection 23a to allow the rod 9 to forward turn, so that the backrest is allowed to move from a position at which the backrest 11 is held in a standing posture to a position at which the backrest 11 is allowed to be tilted forward.
