PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely prevent burn through of a fusion zone in an arc welding method. SOLUTION: This is an arc welding method in which a floor panel 10 is superimposed on a B frame 20 for arc welding. The method includes: a first step in which a first workpiece 10 with a recess 11 expanding upward in diameter is superimposed on a second workpiece 20 so that the bottom of the recess 11 is in contact therewith; a second step in which the outer periphery surrounding the recess 11 of the first workpiece 10 is pressurized to the second workpiece 20 side and in which a compressive stress (arrow Y shown in Fig.) intended to the center 11d of the recess 11 is imparted to its bottom; and a third step in which the center 11d of the bottom of the recess 11 is arc-welded.
