The device has a transport device (22) arranged before or behind a ring core positioning plane in a transportation direction of a coil material (4) e.g. metallic wire or band, for transporting the coil material through a center opening of a ring core (2). A guiding device (13) is extended from the ring core positioning plane to an opposite side of the plane in a curved manner in a guide circumferential section for guiding front free ends of a supply longitudinal segment (15) of the coil material.
