摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely detect in an inspection process, adherence of foreign matter onto an optical rotary encoder in a manufacturing process, when the occasion occurs. SOLUTION: A foreign matter detection start command is given to a device whereupon the optical rotary encoder is mounted (101), and driving of a motor for driving the optical rotary encoder is started by detection of the foreign matter detection start command (102). When the motor is driven up to constant speed (103, 104), a sensor period read from the optical rotary encoder is measured, and when a measured value of the sensor period is out of a normal value range, it is determined that a foreign matter adheres onto the optical rotary encoder (105, 106). When receiving a foreign matter detection result reading command from the outside, a determination result of existence of adherence of the foreign matter onto the optical rotary encoder is transmitted to the outside.
