PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sample color layer needed to evaluate colors of various members for optical element, such as color filter, and color evaluating method and color managing method for a member for optical element, where the color of the member for optical element can be evaluated properly alone, without actually incorporating the member for optical element in the optical element. SOLUTION: The sample colored layer is a member for optical element, having a colored layer wherein two or more kinds of colored layer constitution units, having different color characteristics are arranged mixedly, in accordance with a predetermined two-dimensional array pattern, and used is to evaluate color characteristics of colored layer constitution units A, which are not fixed in the film thickness of the member for optical element having at least one kind of colored layer constitution unit A, which is not fixed in the film thickness, included among individual colored layer constitution units. In this case, the colored layer has only the colored constitution units A, which should be included in the member for optical element and is not fixed in the film thickness, and is arranged in accordance with the predetermined two-dimensional array pattern.
