PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To materialize a speaker of a slim shape which has an excellent linearity of an input and output characteristic, and can reproduce a high sound quality. SOLUTION: An edge 103 having a substantially semicircular roll shape in section is formed in an outer circumference of a diaphragm 101. On edge 103 a plurality of trenches 114 formed with a V-character shape or U-character shape in section are provided along a roll surface from an inside of the edge 103 to an outside thereof. The trenches 114 are disposed line symmetrically to a center line of a long axis of the diaphragm 101. Further, a length of a center line 115 of the trench 114 is equal to or more than the roll length of the edge surface in an edge width direction. As a stiffness of the edge 103 is small at an end 102 of the diaphragm 101, f<SB>0</SB>of the speaker does not need to be higher, an abnormal oscillation due to rolling does not occur, and also an amplitude can be increased.
